One of my LFs gave me this female Amano shrimp today thats just loaded with eggs that are ready to drop at any minute to experiment with. I see som lil critters in the little holding tank I got her in so IM thinking they may be starting to hatch already. I have a 1 gallon pickle jar about 3/4 filled with salt water Im gonna put an airstone in on low & see what happens. I gotta search online some more & see if the lava are just supposed to go straight into the salt water or if its got to be done gradually

hi crazygregg :)

I've never bred amano shrimp, but I did breed propinqua shrimp, which supposedly do things the same way. I did it out of curiosity, to see if I could :D Here is the helpful site I used:

Well, test #1 didn't go well. I did get a few lava but the female ended up dieing before I got too many. SO On to Test #2. I got another egg laden female although shes not as far along as the first one. So I have the jar of salt water with a leaf in it seasoning with a small improvised sponge filter awaiting the arrival of more lava.

I am very curious to see if this works for you... I will stay tuned for sure! This is something I have often thought about myself but have not attempted perhaps if you have success I will give it a go as well.
