I have been doing most of my "aqua related" shopping on Ebay and other places. I came back to aquabid for the SNE and spent waaaay tooo much money but had fun and met some nice people. Now I used aquabid seriously between 03-05. Then I went away, moved, parents died-life stuff.<br>
So I come back, years later, and post a request and find at least a FEW of the fish I was looking for (tho ebay is still cheaper for the same quality with IMHO a better selction on more common fish and plants) and also got some nice bonus finds.<br>
Heres where I have to vent.<br>
On Ebay...people automatically for the most part..send invoices, pretty much as soon as the auction ends..they want their money.<br>
They use/accept paypal...this way your butt is covered and their butt is covered.<br>
They are given a date BY Ebay, a time frame if you will, that you need to receive your item by. To keep a good rating they want to get the item to you as fast as possible. There is also a place you can go to and look up anytime, the tracking number, to see the progress of the shipment...esp. important with live items.<br>
Aquabid...some sellers seem to think you are going to look up every auction you won, find their individual emails, backtrack and then send them PERSONAL paypal money without an invoice being sent by them to you, (to save them a buck or two in paypal fees...if that buck or two is an issue then the price of the item needs to be raised accordingly), this is, after of course you (the buyer) spent a pretty hefty amount of money. (and running your own business so you need to keep track of what you spend) Thats just flat dumb-paying a stranger with no invoice sent, and.or them wanting PERSONAL paypal payments to save a buck or not take paypal at all- that is just setting yourself up topotentially get screwed.<br>
There is no handy dandy nifty way to look up your tracking numbers all in one place and track your items on aquabid...you have to rifle thru a ton of email,or backtrack your way through closed auctions on AQUABID, and that is if the seller even sent you one. There is no deadline for receiving a shipment.<br>
Today I had 3 people, who were "going to ship on Tueday" email me with a "change of plans". Not one, not two, but 3!!!! I had a host of others...ship when promised-today! I wonder if had I spend $200 with one seller if they would have moved faster. Probably not. One said that they would ship on Tuesday (I paid the night the SNE ended) and then today an email received that they "shipped the order in which they came in and it was implied that I was near the bottom of the list" tho I watch that SNE auction for hours and I was bidding on that persons stuff and had stuff end before others" If you are selling more than you can bag and ship...then why are you offering it for sale? That kind of reeks of desperation, esp, when you are selling batches of fish you just got less than a week ago from THE aquabid seller of the century. ANother person shipped HALF my order. The rest to follow later in the week and risk getting hung up at the po over the weekend. Hmmmmm I pay fast..as soon as I have an invoice I play...Im online off and on all day, be it tablet, laptop or phone. I pay fast and (weather depending) expect fast turnaround, esp. with live items.<br>
I think Aquabid needs a better set up...something like Ebay for fisheys....a place to leave stars on shipping time and communication and 'item as described'....I think aquabid sellers need to be held responsible to posting pics of WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY SELLING as well as the parents...or, sure, post pics of the woohoo knock you socks of tank that those 3 little plant 2 inch clippings came from. But they need to show the 2 inch clipping AS IT IS as well in its own pics. If you are selling baby snails, fry, shrimp...lets see a picture. Not a picture of super dad 2 generations ago and nothing else because that is false advertising.<br>
Will I quit aquabid...no Im inclined to spend even LESS money there now. Am I dissapointed in some of the sellers??...yes, you betcha, and my feedback will reflect that. And AQUABID needs to set a time frame of when the item will arrive, and if it doesnt arrive, you start the complaint process. <br>
Fortunately with paypal, if item is not as described or shipped beyond a resonable time there is recourse, and the seller looses. But its a pain in the butt to go through that when you just wanted the item-be it a rock or a fish, and a side of good customer service.<br>
I am very dissapointed in my AQUABID expereince this past SNE.<br>
And whats funny...is that even as I write this,,,,I just got an email NOW (Weds) to say I hadnt yet paid for an SNE auction on aquabid. I returned by saying, thats right, because you havent sent me an invoice.<br>
Have I passed judgement on the sellers and have my negative feedback already written in my head...well...sorta but not completely becasue at least they communicated with me, they will ultimately be judged by the quality of their fish/items and packaging to arrive alive and poop does happen, tho shipping TIME is also taken into consideration.<br>
Maybe Im just an Ebayer at heart...I buy and sell there, alot and am used to doing things a certain way. I also buy another live form of creature thru another type of auction site...and it too is professional in its invoicing, shipping etc. AQUABID sellers should, at the very least, if they want a repeat buyer, understand auctions, spend some time on ebay, and be prompt and honest in every way. And AQUABID itself, needs a better system for sellers to easily send out invoices, for keeping sellers honest with their pictures (sure post mom n dad, but you better have a pic of the fry there as your FIRST pic) (and for GAWDS sake get that HORRID music off there-sometimes there are fish I want...and as soon as some rap crap starts playing while I look at fish pics...Im clicking NEXT, no matter how badly I might have wanted those fish). And AQUABID you need a better system where buyers can track their auctions, make sure they paid everyone (esp when you are buying 10-15 auctions at a time) and a place where they can find tracking numbers all in one place to track their shipments.<br>
So I feel (a little) better....if Aquabid cant get it together in a professional way...perhaps they are just aged now and out of touch, maybe its time to create a bigger and better fishey auction website. <img class="inlineimg" title="Smile" border="0" alt="" src="images/smilies/smile.gif" smilieid="114"><br>
