    SNE Contest February 20, 2016

Welcome everyone to February’s Saturday Night Express! We’ve got a 3rd prize donated by Bloomer! We are swimming in prizes!

In keeping with Yeahbut’s great stories that are entwined with the questions, I’ll start one of my own.

I got into this hobby as a child because my dad had an aquarium that would have angelfish, tiger barbs or guppies. Neither of us knew much about fish keeping back then, so we probably went through fish relatively often. I can remember the yearly 100% water changes and tank cleanings. Oy!

So, of course I wanted my own tank and my dad bought me one. I remember that neons and, later in high school, striped kuhli loaches were my favorites. I now know that I had an obscene amount of fish in that tank. But i loved the way they seemed to fly instead of swim. I spent many hours watching them and listening to my Billy Idol cassette tapes

    QUESTION #1
    ****************************
So, for the first prize of 12 Sakura Red Cherry Shrimp, how many whole gallons did my first tank hold?
    ****************************

I also had an outside fish tank. And I can remember walking out in the pasture to the nearest watering hole, our spring fed tiny pond. I once found and brought back a glob of eggs and put them in a gallon glass jug. I didn’t know what they would be. They hatched and were all laying still on the sand. I figured I had killed them somehow and I felt bad. Luckily, I didn’t dump them out and the next day they were wiggling. So, I threw them in the outside aquarium and they eventually proved to be tadpoles and even grew into tiny froglets! I then carted them back to the pond and let them go.

    QUESTION #2
    ****************************
Now, for the second prize of Nebula male guppies from Aquaboy, how many little frogs did I release back into the pond?
    ****************************

I don’t know what they ate, other than the tank was placed on the east side of the house, up under the roof edge, so it got gentle morning sun and had pretty green water. Then as they grew I’m now guessing they ate mosquito larvae. But I never fed them that I can recall. I still marvel any survived!

Now, Bloomer has a photo and he wants you to guess that fish!

    QUESTION #3
    ****************************
    What particular strain is this?
EDIT - EDIT - Look at the following post I put the right pic *sigh*
