So how does being “banned” by a seller work?

So this week I tried to BIN from a particular vendor and received the response that this particular vendor has banned me. First time I’ve ever placed a bid of any sort on his auctions. That’s a first for me and I took it with a measure of indignation. If I don’t get what I thought I was buying I drop it and move on. I don’t have time to drop negative feedback and what would probably follow as back and forth crap. This is a hobby for me and won’t waste my time there.
But from a seller’s perspective, I’d expect something along the lines of a reason for being banned outright. Once you’re banned that also includes contact thru Aquabid apparently. I had to go to his Facebook page to get an email address. The response I got was I “probably” placed a lowball bid or ticked off a friend on Aquabid. The fact that he was guessing kinda ticked me off.
Isn’t there / shouldn’t there be some sort of notification that you’ve been banned by someone and at least a brief reason? Am I missing something here?
I’m asking here to better understand as this is new territory for me and I’ve bought tons of livestock and food here over the years. Certainly, I’ve had DOA issues that were easily settled. Quality issues just lead me to ban a seller in my head and move on, ignoring their auctions. If this is how this guy operates, he’s been added to the list of the ones I ignore.
