The adults don't seem too bad about eating their young, but the babies are vicious cannibals of each other while molting.
The limestone rock with holes in it works really well, lots of small holes for the babies to stake out their own home.
If you have any plants in with them, they will eat them unmercifully as well. The babies love vegetable matter, they'll munch on canned green beans, blanched spinach, or thawed frozen squash slices. Fresh squash will work as well, just slice it and nuke it for a couple of minutes like you would for a pleco.
I was dumb enough to buy 4 of these, and they all became berried within a week of each other. BTW, it only takes about 2 weeks for the eggs to hatch and another week or so before mama will let them go on their merry way.
They are really cool creatures, but I should have stuck with just one.
I thought I would grow them out for feeders for my turtles, but if you factor in feeding them and housing them until they are a decent size, it is a loosing proposition, IMO.
